Privacy Policy — PocketTune

Effective date: 26 March 2025

Jurisdiction: This Policy is drafted with reference to laws applicable in India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 (“IT Act”), applicable rules thereunder, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), as interpreted and enforced from time to time.

Important: PocketTune is a personal finance record‑keeping and organisation tool. It is not a bank, payment system, wallet, non‑banking financial company (NBFC), or regulated payment intermediary. Reading this Policy does not replace professional legal or financial advice.

1. Who we are

Data fiduciary / operator: The person or entity operating the PocketTune mobile application and any related services (referred to in this document as “we”, “us”, or “PocketTune”).

Contact (general): hi@imabhinav.dev

Registered address (India): Gandhidham, Kutch, Gujarat, India

If you use PocketTune, you are the data principal under the DPDP Act (the person to whom the personal data relates).

2. What PocketTune is — and what it is not

2.1 What PocketTune is

PocketTune helps you maintain your own records of income, expenses, accounts, borrowing/lending, bills, goals, and related notes—so you can see your finances in one place.

2.2 What PocketTune is not

  • PocketTune is not a bank or credit institution and does not provide banking, lending, investment, or insurance products.
  • PocketTune is not a payment app. It does not process real‑time payments, settlements, or fund transfers on your behalf.
  • PocketTune does not need—and you must not enter—full bank account numbers, card numbers, CVV, UPI PINs, net‑banking passwords, OTPs for payments, or any authentication secrets for the purpose of operating bank or UPI services. Such credentials are not required for the core purpose of local record‑keeping and are not collected or stored by the app for payment execution.

You may choose to type labels or partial references (for example, “Savings — Bank A” or last four digits) purely as your own notes inside the app. That is your content; it is still personal information if it can identify you or your accounts, and we treat it according to this Policy—but it is not the same as the app collecting regulated payment credentials for transactions.

3. Scope of this Policy

This Policy applies to:

  • Personal data processed when you install, access, or use PocketTune on a device; and
  • Personal data processed through related websites, support channels, or backend services we operate for the app, if any.

It does not govern third‑party websites or services that we do not control (for example, your device manufacturer’s OS, or links you open from the app).

4. Personal data we may collect and process

The exact data depends on how you use the app and whether you sign in or sync to a server. In general, categories may include:

Device & technicalDevice model, OS version, app version, crash logs, limited diagnosticsReliability, security, debugging
Optional permissionse.g. Camera (if used for QR or scanning features as described in the app), notifications for remindersFeatures you enable; we request permission where the OS requires it

We do not design PocketTune to collect special categories of data (for example, health data). Please do not enter such information unless a feature explicitly requires it and you accept the risk.

5. Purposes and legal basis (India)

We process personal data for purposes that are lawful under the DPDP Act and related norms, including where applicable:

  • Consent — where we ask for your clear, informed consent (for example, optional analytics or marketing, if offered).
  • Certain legitimate uses — as permitted under the DPDP Act, such as voluntary provision of data for specified purposes, compliance with law, responding to legal requests, or employment (if you contact us as a job applicant—unlikely for end‑users).
  • Provision of service — to give you the record‑keeping features you expect when you use the app.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data to execute payments or to act as a payment system.

6. How we store and protect data

  • Security measures: We implement reasonable security practices and procedures as required under Indian law (including the IT Act and applicable rules), such as access controls, encryption in transit where used, and secure handling of credentials for our own systems.
  • Location: Personal data is stored on secure cloud servers located in the European Union (EU) using reputable cloud infrastructure providers. If personal data is transferred outside India, we ensure such transfers comply with Chapter V of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable government notifications, including any restrictions on cross-border data transfers.
  • Retention: We retain personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, for legal compliance, or to resolve disputes. You may request deletion subject to section 9 and any legal exceptions.

7. Sharing of personal data

We may share personal data only in limited situations:

  • Service providers who help us host, analyse crashes, or send transactional emails—under contracts that require them to protect data.
  • Legal and safety: If required by law, court order, or government authority in India, or to protect rights, safety, or security of users or the public.
  • Business transfers: In a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may transfer to the successor under safeguards.

We do not share your data for unrelated marketing by third parties unless you opt in where required.

8. Your rights (data principal rights — India)

Subject to the DPDP Act and rules, you may have the right to:

  • Access a summary of your personal data we process;
  • Correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Erasure where applicable and not restricted by law;
  • Nominate another person to exercise rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity, as per prescribed rules;
  • Withdraw consent where processing is consent‑based (withdrawal may affect some features);
  • Grievance redressal through our Grievance Officer (see section 11).

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling requests. Some requests may be denied or limited where the law permits (for example, legal retention).

9. Children’s privacy

PocketTune is not directed at children under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in your state). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without verifiable parental consent where required. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

10. Cookies and similar technologies (web / optional)

If you use a web version or marketing site, we may use cookies or local storage for session, preferences, or analytics. You can control cookies through browser settings. Mobile app data may be stored in local storage or secure storage on your device as part of normal app operation.

11. Grievance Officer (India)

Under applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may contact our designated grievance officer:

Grievance Officer: PocketTune (Designated Officer)
Email: hi@imabhinav.dev
Address: Gandhidham, Kutch, Gujarat, India

We will acknowledge and resolve grievances within the timelines prescribed under applicable law and forthcoming rules under the DPDP Act.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to appeal to the Data Protection Board of India, in accordance with the provisions of the DPDP Act, once the relevant mechanisms are operational.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version in the app or on our website and update the “Effective date” at the top. Material changes may require additional notice or consent where the law requires. Continued use after notice may constitute acceptance where permitted.

13. Disclaimer

  • PocketTune does not guarantee financial outcomes.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter.
  • This Policy is provided for transparency and is not legal advice. For specific compliance (e.g. if you are a business user), consult a qualified professional.
